The wildest part of the story is this: a small, powerful group has almost full control, and they’re basically draining the national grid to fuel their own operations.
Ordinary people are the ones paying for it, literally, through hours of blackouts during the coldest days of the year.
At some point, keeping the temperature on becomes almost impossible.
And it doesn’t stop there.
The country is now struggling to provide the most basic essentials for its own citizens: water, electricity, gas, even gasoline.
Imagine a nation with massive natural wealth and resources… and yet it can’t reliably deliver the most fundamental forms of energy to its people.
This is where things have ended up.
